Types of Batteries (Storage Units)
There are many battery types based on structure. The most common are: PB, Li-ion, and LiFePO₄.
PB (Lead-acid) – same as car batteries. Suitable for solar systems only in UPS (backup) mode.
Li-ion – suitable for solar systems. When used correctly, they cause no issues.
LiFePO₄ – ideal for solar systems. They are non-flammable, have a high cycle life,
but are more expensive.Battery Types in OFF-GRID / HYBRID Systems:
Batteries are typically classified as:
LV (Low Voltage)
HV (High Voltage)
These two systems are not compatible with each other – inverter selection must consider this.
LV batteries – low voltage, usually in the 12–48 V range
HV batteries – high voltage, typically in the 120–650 V rang
