Types of Batteries (Storage Units)

There are many battery types based on structure. The most common are: PB, Li-ion, and LiFePO₄.

  • PB (Lead-acid) – same as car batteries. Suitable for solar systems only in UPS (backup) mode.

  • Li-ion – suitable for solar systems. When used correctly, they cause no issues.

  • LiFePO₄ideal for solar systems. They are non-flammable, have a high cycle life,
    but are more expensive.

  • Battery Types in OFF-GRID / HYBRID Systems:

    Batteries are typically classified as:

    • LV (Low Voltage)

    • HV (High Voltage)

These two systems are not compatible with each other – inverter selection must consider this.

    • LV batteries – low voltage, usually in the 12–48 V range

    • HV batteries – high voltage, typically in the 120–650 V rang
